[Workshop] Intro to DITA in Multiple Leading Editors: A DITA Crash Course

This intensive introductory session will look at the Darwin Information Typing Architecture and allow users some hands-on time creating content in three of the market-leading DITA authoring applications. Learn from some of the UK's leading DITA specialists how DITA can be used on various types of information to drive single sourcing, dynamic publishing, localisation or collaboration systems, and more. The session will cover:
- The DITA business case - why are we using it?
- Basic DITA concepts - modularity, reuse, metadata, minimalism, topic-orientation, user orientation
- Using DITA Maps to make flexible, future-proofed content
- What's next? A look at dynamic publishing and workflows that DITA enables
Tools used will include Just Systems XMetaL, Adobe FrameMaker, and oXygen XML.
Participants will not need their own laptops but will need to share a machine.
Participants can bring a laptop but will need be repsonsible for downloading and installing trial versions of the software. The session leaders will NOT be able to trouble-shoot issues on the day.
